Knife Making
My knives and folding knives could be described as a diffusion between the long traditions of Finnish puukko making and modern design, emphasising practicality, streamline aesthetics and quality materials.
You can find more information about my different knife models at picture gallery.
I work in a small workshop beside my house with basic hand and power tools. I don't use CNC-machines, mills, surface grinders or such. (especially cause they cost a lot and I don't have room for them).
For my puukko type knives I mostly make a hand forged carbon steel blade and perform a traditional zone tempering straight from the forge to 40 C degree oil. This way the back of the blade and connection to bolster stays softer and the blade won't brake while twisting or hitting it. This can happen with stainless steel blades, which have to be heat treated to the required edge hardness thoroughly.
For my folding knives parts I partly utilize water cutting for speedier manufacturing. Not that it speeds the process that much. After water cutting all the surfaces still have to be hand ground to desirable angle, measurements, fit and finish.
